Celebrating neurodiversity at home!
I really liked the idea of the books to be in a loan library for our parents to help discussions at home.
Helps our families to celebrate their unique qualities.
Visual resources and fidgets!
We have many visual supports in class already, but the resources will help us to make these more specific and the use of now and next boards for some of learners will be useful.
We have a fidget basket in every class for staff to utilise as they need with their learners.
Thinking whole school after seeing possible resources!
If you have any suggestions for where to find wobble stools that are a suitable size for KS1 desks that would be helpful.
We are also looking to roll out the 'zones of regulation' more widely across school in the coming months, the book with the Velcro will support this move
PINS training, resources and Hokki stools!
Firstly, we can’t believe how many bits and pieces myself and the staff have brought back from PINS sessions so thank you for that. The Hokki chair is already in class with a young man in Year 3 and he is loving using it! We had staff meeting last night and items have gone in our sensory room, in class fiddle boxes, in a class calm corner and to specific children in Year 5.
Upskilling across our staff!
Thank you again, our staff are looking forward to the upcoming training PINS sessions – we’ve chosen a range of staff across the school, so this is really benefitting everyone. We’ve also booked in audit sessions, reflected on our SEN page on the website and made changes based on the feedback and booked in the next coffee morning. It’s been brilliant!
Bespoke PINS support for settings
Last night’s session sparked some great conversations so thank you for your time, knowledge, and wonderful way of sharing all of this.
I think your suggestion for the next session sounds like an amazing plan.
Thinking creatively with PINS support!
I think this plan you have suggested is awesome and maybe alongside your theme for the session we could have a bit of a feedback, open surgery question time?
Celebrating your staff!
Stepping into work each day is an absolute heart filler for me but today stepping in and still feeling that extra buzz of pride and positivity around all of the staff following last night’s session with WTT has made my heart sing.
What an absolutely amazing session to encourage colleagues to share and talk about their experiences, made even more powerful by having you there to share and lead us with your knowledge too.
Free resources!
An extra special thank you for the AMAZING bag of goodies you sent us to share with staff..........
Our whole school team are excited to be part of the project and cannot wait to develop our practice to ensure we continue to meet and enhance the needs of our little people and their families.
So proud of my staff team!
Thank you so much for your time yesterday and for this comprehensive report. It is re-assuring that we are using the right tools and strategies to adapt teaching and learning- I am sure that through further PINs CPD we will also be reflective and look to improve this still further. On a personal note, it was re-assuring for me as a head that I am right in not putting too much pressure on children with neurodiverse needs and that it is ok for them to be on the periphery at times and that they will join when they are ready. I am so proud of my team and all they have achieved .
It was a pleasure to have you in school again
Great plans in place!
We will have all our teachers and TAs there so a great time to really get the message across.
I think you have captured the school really well and have put some great plans in place in how we can move forward.
Thank you
Lights off in our classrooms, blinds up!
Thank you for yesterday, it was lovely talking to you, sorting training for our staff needs and walking round the school spotting improvements we can make to make the school more neuro friendly. I learnt so much from your visit. Today we've had lights off in classrooms, blinds up and after our brain breaks, we've organised and calmed. Would be great to have that KS2 version to pass in the message. Thank you so much for your time.
"At Monkshouse we strive to ensure children have positive experiences from the moment they arrive at school, by starting the day with emotional check inns using the Zones of Regulation.
Children have access to Sensory Circuits completing the calming part of the circuit in our new Sensory Room setting them up for the day ahead.
Throughout the day they access a variety of sensory experiences that engage and foster their language and motor skills whilst also developing their cognitive growth, social interactions and encourage experimentation."
